Advanced Elements Advanced Frame Expedition Inflatable Kayak Reviews:
After researching the Expedition as well as other kayaks from Advanced Elements, it was often stated that the company delivers top notch customer service as well as producing well made and durable kayaks that utilize high quality materials.
From what we have found for this kayak, it seems that it is no exception. It contains plenty of room for storage and a nice high weight capacity of 450 pounds. It also provides ample legroom, as well as delivering a comfortable experience for the paddler.
It should be noted that this kayak isn’t designed as a white water boat. From the reviews it seems best used in calmer waters. One reviewer felt that the materials used for the bottom of the boat were just not as thick as they should be, and compared the thickness to that of an inner-tube.
Preventing air from re-entering the chambers while deflating the kayak was another problem that ultimately caused them to return it and purchase a hard shell kayak. However, the Advanced Elements website is said to have an amazing forum for those who may be having doubts.
Many people it seems, thoroughly enjoy this kayak though. In fact, it actually received quite a few very high marks. People who had purchased it expecting to give up some of the comfort and performance of a hard shell kayak have been quite surprised.
The comfort of the kayak has been mentioned numerous times, in addition to how well it handles. It is fairly fast, and tracks very well.
Other things worth mentioning have been to make sure and completely deflate the kayak, otherwise it won’t fit properly in the storage bag. The oar was brought up a couple times as well, with some recommending the purchase of a good carbon-fiber collapsible oar to use in place of the Advanced Elements collapsible oar. It was said to seize up after a few uses making it very difficult to break back down again.
Lastly, the spring and twist valves may be tricky. After figuring them out however, the reviewer didn’t have any problems. Not all pumps have the proper adapters so it was recommended to only buy the Advanced Elements pumps for this kayak.
Additions that may be helpful are the backbone and the spray-skirt. They are not needed, but will add a few benefits to improve your overall paddling trips.
The majority of reviewers are extremely happy with this kayak, and consider it unbeatable for the price. In addition, many have mentioned the quality and good customer service that Advanced Elements offers. All of the information and reviews we have found, allow us to be very confident in our decision of highly recommending the Expedition Inflatable kayak.
