Enjoy Spectacular Scenery, Wellness and Rejuvenation: The Promises Of Juneau, Alaska
For travelers that like to indulge themselves with luxurious accommodations in a naturally beautiful environment, there’s Juneau, Alaska. The location is surrounded by Tongass rain forest, magnificent scenery and fantastic wildlife. It is the perfect getaway for travelers whose ideal vacation is to just sit back and watch the Milky Way from a hot tub deck, or to take long romantic walks along beautiful trails. It is known for its peaceful seclusion, attentive service and comfortable accommodations. Juneau, beautiful and surprising, is a great place to visit if people want to experience the best of Alaska’s mesmerizing scenery without having to fight their way through crowded streets to reach it.
Juneau is a destination for travelers who want to get away from the same old thing – traffic, strip malls, franchise hotels and restaurants. Travelers who’d like to bring home tales of something offbeat; who enjoy exploring the special but quirky.
Alaska’s spectacular landscape is a world all its own, very different from its mainland counterpart. It is remote, underdeveloped, without the crowds. Juneau is in the middle of it, perfectly situated as base camp to explore the best of the area. Visitors will find some unexpected options in Juneau: Hiking, art, antiques, biking, golf, birding, fishing, history, museums, shopping, boating, canoeing, kayaking, parks and reserves. All framed with spectacular scenic vistas of glaciers, fjords, lakes, streams, forests, and mountains. Viewing of bear, eagles, whales and other wildlife is unmatched.
Some of us are fortunate to be born with the gift of a keen imagination, creativity and sense of adventure. Even luckier are those blessed with a good sense of wanderlust enabling them to explore interesting destinations in a variety of countries.
Alaska is one of those special journeys for the very privileged, as exemplified by this story told by Maryann and Rachael Ray, the owners/innkeepers of Pearson’s Pond Luxury Inn & Adventure Spa in Juneau. “We had a traveler from Massachusetts. She had been married 30 years and the husband decided to leave her and marry a younger woman. She ran the house and raised the kids so he could excel. She was on the edge of loosing herself in this ugly divorce. She was timid. He wanted to take all the money. It was becoming a very ugly fight,” continues Maryann and Rachael “she didn’t have a job or the wherewithal to take care of herself. She felt stranded. Her travel agent told her to go away to really get away into a safe, comfortable, and nice environment. She ended up going to Juneau, Alaska. The woman stayed for a week and a half. She was distraught, tense, tightly wrapped.”
Admits Maryann and Rachael, “We worked hard to make her feel very comfortable, and very welcome. We let her talk about her situation. We found excursions for her to enjoy in the area, She met people, did activities with them and made a lot of friends, This really boosted her confidence. She was a new and different person after her stay.”
From time-to-time we come across a place that not only moves us to change our thinking, attitudes and behaviors, but also shimmers with rejuvenation. These types of areas enable us to scrape our surfaces a little, and force us to ponder over some very weighty topics. Some people with battered and conflicting emotions escape to Alaska to find renewal and recovery. According to Maryann and Rachael, “You can see the weight lifting off of our guests. We make each one feel that they are important. We are solicitous about their needs, food, and requirements. We take the time to talk to them, and get to know them a little bit. The tone and the nature lets them know we care about them as people. We want them to have a good time.”
Visitors will invariably be overjoyed for having taken this adventure, as well as partaking in the many activities available in their quest to escape their stress and anxiety.
We are surrounded by technology: internet, syncing, clocking, locking, videos, online books, podcasts, browsers, social sites, apps, email, organizing, searching and mapping. We can become befuddled with techno-speak.
Alaska is a destination that steers visitors through another type of experience that immediately draws travelers into exciting escapades, reaffirming the old adage that the best things in life are free.
Alaska’s rainforest vividly captures a sense of time and place but without any technology. As a result of Alaska’s magical landscape and interesting amenities, i travelers are kept engaged. Maryann and Rachael explain, “There was a local couple going through several months of hard times; illness in the family and total stress. They had four kids and wanted to get away.” Continues Maryann and Rachael, “We put rose petals on floor, and provided candlelight and champagne. When they arrived, the wife could barely carry on a conversation. She wasn’t talking. At the doorway of her room, she stopped and burst into tears of happiness. She was so thrilled that somebody was taking the time to take care of her. She was so stressed about illness, kids, pressure of her job, and no one was taking care of her. The atmosphere here was so relaxing and inviting. The next morning we had a great conversation, and she was much more relieved. Just one night away from the kids in a calm and quiet setting was truly special. This property is a wellness spa.”
