Florida Storm of 2009

It has been four days now, constant rain pouring down. We got a bit of a break yesterday, when the rains ceased for several hours. Today, Friday, the 22nd of may, 2009, rains returned to the Daytona Beach area, including Port Orange and the whole eastern coastline. Flooding in many low lying areas, has caused much damage, in houses along the river. Some have had to go to shelters in the area. Others have elected to stay in their homes and clean up what they can.

The local weather reports say that it might clear up this weekend— maybe! Some are even getting around in their canoes and kayaks, where it may be as much as 18″ deep, in the streets. This reporter has his own boat ready and waiting–just in case! There are flash flood warnings out for the eastern coast of Volusia county(where I reside) until 8pm tonight. Scattered showers are expected this weekend, as well. There may be some sunshine too, somewhere in the picture. This is predicted to continue on, until next Tuesday, or so. Well folks, if you were praying for rain, we got it!!  Maybe we could all thank the Lord for it, but pray that it comes to a halt? At least for now?   Thank you, Jesus! (is the gov’t watching this?____ who cares?)

Well, the rain appears to have stopped for now. Wonder how long this will last? Hmmmmmmmmmm. Won’t have to water the plants for a long while! (at least a week!) There’s a light rain falling now. News reports show a few feet of water in places like Holley Hill, above Daytona. People are being advised not to go wading around too much, without proper protection. The septic tanks are overflowing there and it may not be sanitary, walking through the water. Hip waders would be recommended. Otherwise, stay inside! That’s about all for now, from Daytona. Stay dry, everybody!
